CMA Fest 2011 Was Huge Success

Each day fans waited as long as it took to meet their favorite stars at the Convention Center. Rascal Flatts, Kellie Pickler, Lady Antebellum and Martina McBride are just some of the big names that signed at Fan Fair during the week. Right down the street at the Bridgestone Arena, Shania Twain had her own signing, making it her first appearance at CMA Fest in 15 years. She signed copies of her book, “From This Moment On,” and met with fans that traveled hundreds of miles just to see her.

Many festival attendees chose to opt out of the autograph signings and spend their day listening to live music instead. The Chevrolet Riverfront Stage had artists like Frankie Ballard, who sang his new song, “A Buncha Girls.” Brett Eldredge sang his powerful song, “Raymond,” and Josh Kelley got fans excited as he sang “Georgia Clay.”

One of the best parts about CMA Fest is the Fan Club Parties, and there were several going on this week. Carrie Underwood held hers Tuesday morning at the Grand Ole Opry. She sang ten songs for her dedicated fans, including “Jesus Take The Wheel” and “Cowboy Casanova.” Her husband, Mike Fisher of the Nashville Predators, also made an appearance, waving from backstage. Lady Antebellum held theirs Thursday evening, where they performed songs like “American Honey” and their latest release, “Just A Kiss,” to a sold out audience. Steve Holy and Mark Cooke had a double fan club party on Friday afternoon at their label, Cotton Valley Records, where they each played an acoustic set for their fans in attendance.

Every night, outstanding performances were put on for fans at LP Field. The Zac Brown Band kicked off the LP Field performances on Thursday with special guest, Alan Jackson. Jason Aldean was joined on stage by Kelly Clarkson to sing their hit song, “Don’t You Wanna Stay.” The crowed was went crazy on Friday night when Shania Twain came out to introduce Sugarland. Keith Urban and future tour mate, Jake Owen, followed, teaming up to sing Jake’s hit, “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You.”

Saturday night, Josh Turner surprised fans by bringing American Idol winner, Scotty McCreery, up on stage to sing with him. The same night, Martina McBride brought up Lauren Alaina. Sunday, Blake Shelton got a laugh from the crowed as he sang “Play That Funky Music,” “Centerfold” and “My Prerogative” to represent the music his family members listened to while he was growing up. Soon after, Trace Adkins came up to sing “Hillbilly Bone” with him. Miranda Lambert also got laughs from fans when she mentioned how the beach balls being passed around the stadium were getting on her nerves. Taylor Swift was the last to perform, followed by fireworks marking the end of this year’s CMA Fest.
