Northwest Hospital gift shop is looking for volunteers to assist customers. Weekday and weekend hours are available. Training is provided.

The emergency department is looking for adult volunteers to support staff and provide services to patients and their families. Weekday and weekend hours are available. Training will be provided. For more information, call the Northwest Volunteer office at 410-521-5911.

The hospital is looking for nurses to volunteer and other volunteers to assist with registration at health screenings and community health programs. Call Community Health Education at 410-521-5905 or 410-521-5974 for more information.

The Community Crisis Center is calling for local residents and businesses to donate nonperishable food items and toiletries in support of neighbors in need.   

Most needed toiletries are shampoo, bars of soap, deodorant (both genders), toothpaste, toilet tissue, and paper towels. (Note: CCC does not distribute trial-size toiletries to clients). Also needed are feminine products, and laundry detergent.

All donations are tax-deductible. Drop off location is 725 Main Street in Reisterstown, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, or Mondays from 5 to 7 p.m. For more information, call 410-526-7111.

Reisterstown Lions Club meets the first and third Wednesday of each month for a dinner meeting at Captain Harvey’s Restaurant, 11510 Reisterstown Road.

Dinner begins at 7 p.m. and visitors are welcome. The Lions Club is the largest volunteer organization in the world, providing help for individuals with sight and hearing problems as well as aiding with community problems. For more information, call Dick Pfeffer at 410-526-9252.

A mah-jongg group is forming weekday evenings, from 6:30-10 p.m.

The Franklin Garden Club of Reisterstown, a member of the Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland, District III, meets the second Thursday of the month September through June at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 11:30 to 2 p.m.

The club continues to maintain the Reisterstown library gardens and Main Street barrels. New members are welcome. Call 410-833-0918 for more information.

The Adult Children Anonymous (ACA) support group meets every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church Parish House, Piney Grove and Butler Roads in Glyndon. They are cloud based software by Intuit, the makers of QB. They are not as complex as traditional QB and work fine for small business. The online features allow more than one person to access your QB files and you can even use your I-phone or Blackberry to bill on the spot.
